Roman Army Museum
The Vindolanda Trust's museum of the Roman soldier at Greenhead, beside Magna Roman Fort and the Walltown section of Hadrian's Wall.
About Roman Army Museum
The Roman Army Museum stands at Greenhead, beside the site of Magna Roman Fort and close to Walltown, one of the most complete sections of Hadrian's Wall. It is run by the Vindolanda Trust, the charity that also runs Vindolanda, and focuses on the soldiers who garrisoned the frontier, their lives and their equipment, including the film Edge of Empire.
Admission is charged, and a saver ticket covers both Vindolanda Trust sites on the same day. The nearest railway station is Haltwhistle on the Tyne Valley line, and the Go North East 122 bus from Hexham stops at the museum. The walk along the Wall from Vindolanda is about 7.7 miles. Check the website for seasonal opening.
