About

Corbridge: a Tyne Valley village with Roman roots

On the north bank of the Tyne, four miles east of Hexham, Corbridge grew beside a Roman town on the Hadrian's Wall frontier. Today it is a lively Northumberland village with an independent high street, a historic stone bridge and the countryside on its doorstep.

Independent High Street

Bookshops, galleries, delis, cafes, pubs and gift shops give Corbridge a village centre that draws visitors from across the region. Explore them in our directory.

Connected

Corbridge station is on the Tyne Valley line between Newcastle and Hexham, with buses including the X85, 10 and 684 and quick access to the A69.

Schools & Families

Corbridge has its own first and middle schools, part of Northumberland's three-tier system, with high school education in nearby Hexham.

Sport & Community

Tynedale RFC, founded in 1876, plays just over the bridge at Tynedale Park, alongside cricket, tennis and junior football clubs and a busy calendar of village events.
