Hexham Register Office

Northumberland County Council's register office at Hexham House, the nearest office to Corbridge for registering a birth or death, by appointment only.

About Hexham Register Office

Hexham Register Office is one of six Northumberland County Council register offices where births and deaths can be registered, and it is the nearest to Corbridge, about four miles west of the village. It is based at Hexham House on Gilesgate, a Georgian house beside the Abbey grounds in the centre of Hexham, which is also used for civil ceremonies.

All registrations are by appointment, which can be booked online through the council's website or by calling 0345 600 6400. The council asks families to register a death within five days of the medical certificate reaching the registrars where possible. Registration itself is free, certified copies of the death certificate are charged per copy, and families are given a reference for the government's Tell Us Once service.
