Takeaways in Corbridge

Where to get a takeaway in Corbridge: Indian on the Market Place, Chinese on St Helens Street, fish and chips from the Angel and sandwiches on Middle Street.

CorbridgeVillage.live·

Corbridge is a small village, so its takeaway choice is short, but it covers the basics: a curry, a Chinese, fish and chips and a lunchtime sandwich. Everything in this guide is within a few minutes' walk of the Market Place. If you'd rather sit down to eat, see our guide to eating out in Corbridge and our guide to the best pubs in Corbridge.

Opening hours change, especially in winter, so check before you set off or phone ahead to order.

Corbridge Tandoori

Corbridge Tandoori at 8 Market Place has been serving the village since 1989. It's a sit-down Indian restaurant that also does takeaway, and you can order online through its website. It opens in the evenings from Tuesday to Sunday, 5pm to 11pm, and is closed on Mondays.

Amber Takeaway and Restaurant

Amber is the village's Chinese takeaway, on St Helens Street in the Corstopitum Social Club building. It has been run by the same company since 2003. When the Hexham Courant asked readers for their favourite Chinese food, several picked Amber. It holds a food hygiene rating of 5 (very good). Phone 01434 633299 to order.

Fish and chips at the Angel

Corbridge doesn't have a dedicated chip shop. The nearest thing is the takeaway menu at the Angel of Corbridge on Main Street. Its "Cherub" fish and chips is local beer-battered cod with triple-cooked chips and lemon, and the Angel also does Sunday roasts to take away. Order at the bar, or phone 01434 632119 and arrange a time to collect.

The takeaway is served during the Angel's food times: Monday to Saturday 12pm to 3.30pm and 5pm to 8pm, and Sunday 12pm to 6.30pm. If you want to eat your roast at the table instead, see our Sunday roast guide.

Best for: The Angel's takeaway menu and prices are on its website. Phoning ahead is the best way to avoid a wait on Friday evenings.

Corbridge Sandwich Bar

For lunch, Corbridge Sandwich Bar in Jubilee Buildings on Middle Street makes sandwiches to order, along with toasties, paninis, jacket potatoes, soups, salad boxes and daily specials. It has vegetarian and vegan options and a food hygiene rating of 4 (good). Phone 01434 634000.

Further afield

Hexham, about four miles west, has a much wider choice, including several fish and chip shops. If you're heading that way, see hexham.live's guides to takeaways in Hexham and fish and chips in Hexham.

Tips

  • Phone ahead. In a small village a takeaway can be busy at the same times every week, usually Friday and Saturday evenings.
  • Check opening days. Corbridge Tandoori is closed on Mondays, and winter hours can be shorter everywhere.
  • Food hygiene ratings for all of these businesses are published by the Food Standards Agency and are worth checking for the latest inspection.
