About Forum Books
Forum Books is an independent bookshop selling new books, arranged by theme, genre and subject. Since 2017 it has occupied The Chapel, a converted 1867 chapel down an alleyway opposite the Vicar's Pele and St Andrew's Church, where the old pulpit serves as a children's reading corner and an event stage. Helen Stanton has owned the shop since 2011.
The shop runs author events throughout the year and was named North of England Independent Bookshop of the Year at the British Book Awards in 2022 and 2023. It also provides book sales for events elsewhere in the region, and it is a National Book Tokens stockist.
